Excellent cottage in a nice location

It was really nice holiday at Shippon Cottage. Very cosy cottage with fully equipped kitchen. We explored most of the south Devon and it was quite easy to do so because of the great location of the cottage. Thanks to Helen and Mark for making it very easy to check in and check out!

Perfect Pridhamsleigh Property!

We have just returned from a week's holiday which was perfect in every way! From the outset, everything went smoothly: booking was easy and Mark was always extremely quick to reply to our queries. Helen's warm smile and friendly greeting at check-in set a lovely tone; we knew we had made a great choice. Shippon Cottage exceeded our expectations: it's a spacious, sympathetically, beautifully restored animal barn with many quirky features retained. Our four year old granddaughter adored it and very quickly made herself at home in the large twin-bedded room, although her favourite feature was the arrow-slit-like windows. The cottage was spotlessly clean, very well-equipped - even down to things like dishwasher tablets, washing pods, liquid soap, cling film and foil - and had a lovely little welcome pack, luxurious towels and quality bedding The setting was tranquil and the location perfect for visiting so many of the great attractions and beautiful countryside that South Devon has to offer. We had such a brilliant time that we are trying to work out how we can wangle another visit; in the meantime, we will be recommending it to our family and friends. Perfect base

We will be back! The listing was as described, location is ideal and the local amenities were just what we needed. The touches that the owner adds are a welcome addition - the welcome pack means we could have a cuppa with a biscuit while we unpacked without having to go out again! All the facilities in the cottage are of a really high quality! The owners are really helpful & the bed is SO comfortable! This is a gem of a find!!

July stay in Devon

We cannot recommend a stay at the Shippon Cottage enough. The property is beautifully furnished and the owners very friendly. The location was ideal for visits to the coast as well as Totnes & Plymouth. The local area is beautiful and with ample parking and every home comfort you would need in the property, it has made for an amazing stay. Thank you.

Excellent experience

The barn is a great layout for a wider family holiday. Location gives accessibility to moor and beaches. A38 not noticeable for all but occasionally. Hosts always happy to help and give ideas for days out. AAA+

Home from Home

Our stay in June 2021 warrants a review. The barn had everything you would want and more. The owner has thought of everything, especially in the kitchen. The courtyard area is beautiful and a sun trap. I will definitely stay here again.

Milk churn cottage

Milk churn cottage was very clean and well equipped. We had a comfortable stay and we were very happy with the property overall. The location was beautiful with easy access to local tourist attractions and coastal areas. Mark and Helen were very welcoming and helpful. We would definitely visit again and would not hesitate to recommend this property for a holiday in a beautiful part of Devon.

Relaxed stay

Comfortable, relaxing and a lovely place to stay.

A lovely relaxing place to stay. Beautiful old barn in a courtyard setting, very tastefully furnished and very comfortable. Mark and Helen have thought of everything,: a generous welcome pack, dish washer tablets, washing up liquid, soft towels, beautiful sheets and many others things that you would normally have to provide. They are also extremely helpful and knowledgeable about the area, Helen recommended a beautiful walk and very kindly left a map and route plan on our doorstep. They certainly go the extra mile to ensure you have everything you need. A big recommendation from us.

What a super place!

Old Dairy Barn is top notch; beautifully clean and stylish with a huge upstairs kitchen & lounge running the full length of the barn. It's near the A38 (which you don't hear) so it's great for Dartmoor, the Dart river & estuary and the beaches on the coast. Particular highlights for us were the National Trust Greenway estate and the local walk down to Buckfast Abbey. The owners are friendly and helpful and go the extra mile; nothing is too much trouble. Highly recommended. A real gem.

Lovely property in perfect location

The property was a good size, very clean and comfortable and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The owners were welcoming without being intrusive and although there was nothing we needed from them I have no doubt they would have assisted if we had any queries or anything additional for the property. Being a short drive from the coast and Dartmoor, we were able to make the most of both, especially with the good weather we had. We would like to return to the area as feel we didn't do/see everything we wanted to. We would definitely stay at the property again.

Great Location for a Getaway.

Fantastic location away from the mayhem, perfect for relaxation and surrounded by beautiful countryside, great for outdoor activities. The barn was well equipped, warm and comfortable. The owners thoughtfully left some essentials of milk, bread, tea, etc ready for us upon arrival. We stayed for a whole week so would love to return!

Our escape to the country.

We had a lovely stay in The Old Dairy Barn, it had everything we needed and more! There was lots of thought gone into making our stay as comfy as possible from a lovely welcome pack with bread, milk, tea, coffee, jam, wine and cookies ( which we devoured straight away) to tea towels, washing capsules, dishwasher tablets, books, games... the list goes on! All the facilities were spotless and of high quality. The location was great with so many places to visit and things to do, lots of them within walking distance so no need for the car. We'd definitely recommend staying here to others and the owners were really helpful and friendly too.

Heaven in Devon.

This is our second holiday in Shippon cottage this year. We love how well appointed and comfortable it is and nothing is too much trouble for the owners who have an excellent knowledge of and passion for this beautiful part of Devon. We'll be back!

Plenty of space for four for a week’s getaway.

It is nicely furnished, well equipped and spacious. Everywhere is very comfortable and the heating works well. Plenty of opportunities to have a local walk, visit two local centres, access the moor within a few minutes and only about half an hour from the sea.

We had such a lovely week…….

…….just wish it had been a bit longer - I think we also were pretty lucky with the weather. The cottages are beautiful - so welcoming and comfortable and extremely well equipped.  Everything one might need was there - the highlight of my day on arrival was to find more than enough hangers - how sad am I?  As one of your guests had commented 'we could move in there!'. Completely agree - you have done a fantastic job, we'll definitely be back. For us, the area was particularly good for walking and cycling and there are still many trails we wish to explore.

Our 2020 Staycation!

Having had a couple of holidays cancelled because of travel restrictions we were delighted to find a gem of a place in Devon. The accommodation was well furnished complete with everything you need for a relaxing break. An ideal base to explore either Dartmoor, South or East Devon. We would certainly go there again and have no qualms about recommending the place to others.

A lovely cottage in a beautiful spot.

The cottage has been renovated beautifully, it has everything you need and is in a very quiet location surrounded by countryside but with lots of attractions and pubs close by. The complimentary snacks including a freshly baked loaf were much appreciated! The owners were always prompt responding to any queries before we arrived. A perfect getaway!

Lovely break away at The Shippon Cottage.

Stayed here for 5 nights with 2 children, the cottage was lovely and very clean. On arrival there was a welcome package of milk, tea and bread which was a nice touch especially after travelling a long way. The owners Mark & Helen were very accommodating and helpful. Location was very good easy to get to most places. We look forward to staying here again.

The house has been newly renovated with everything necessary for an enjoyable stay. It was clean and very specious. The house is situated near the A38, so very convenient for exploring the coast and Dartmoor. We have lots more exploring to do, and will definitely be staying again.

Stunning Cottage.

We spent 4 wonderful days here at Shippon cottage which has been sympathetically renovated to a very high standard. If you love period features without compromising on luxury this is the perfect place. The owners have thought of everything to make your stay really comfortable and we loved the modern kitchen which was perfectly equipped to allow easy cooking and dining. Its a great location and only a short drive to many places of interest and the coast. We could not recommend more highly and would not consider staying anywhere else when we return to this beautiful part of the world. Thanks to Helen and Mark for doing such a wonderful job and creating such a special place to stay.
